SHAHIDTU 
(I TESTIFIED)

{Tawassul [Supplication] to Allah through His Beloved Prophet and Bossom Friends}

a) A'uudhu billahi mina shaytani rajeemi ** Bi-smillahi ar-Rahmaani r-Raheemi

a) I seek refuge with God from the accursed satan ** In the name of God, the Most-Compassionate, the Most-Merciful.

b) Astagfirullah al-'Azeema 'l-ladhii ** Laa ilaha illaa Huwa al-Hayyu al-Qayyuumu

b) I seek forgiveness of the Allah, the Supreme, in which ** there is no god be He, the Ever-Living, the Everlasting.

1. Shahidtu idhaa ad-'uu bi-ismika sayyidii ** Muhammadu 'Abdullahi hisnii wa sannadii

1. I testified when I call(ed) your name my master ** Muhammad Abdullah my fortress, support, voucher.

2. Wa haqaqtu husri bil-Ameen muyassirii ** at-Tawassalu bil mahbuubi aiqana bi-n-nasri

2. And I achieved bliss with the Trustworthy my ease-bringer ** entreating with the beloved, beseeching a supporter.

3. wa qalbii ladaa dhikri-dh-dhunuubi wajii'i ** wa 'ainii min fikri-d-dumuu'i jaree'u

3. My heart trembles whenever I remember my many sins ** and my poor eyes flow with tears, when I reflect on my sins.

4. Mataa kaana sadri lil-hisaabi maruu'u ** wa amana qalbii fii-l-muriidi tamuu'u

4. When will my bossom become expectant towards judgement ** and my heart feels safe in the expectation of judgement.

5. Wa saddaqtu sirru-llahi ismi-l-Muzammilu ** alaa fiihi sirru maa bihaa yutawassalu

5. I sincerely believe God's mystery in ths Encloaked Name ** Alas! in it is a secret with which all supplicate.

6. Wa fii-l-Laazimi thumma-l-Wazeefatu Haylalah ** Sabaa'haan masaa'aan kulla yawmin daleelu

6. At the time of Lazim, and Wazifah and Haylala ** mornings, evenings everyday, indeed therein is a manual.

7. Bi-sirri salaatu l faatihati wa jawharat ** bi anwaa'i dhikri-llahi sirraan wa jahratan

7. By the secret/mystery of Salatul faatih and Jawharatul Kamaal ** and other variants of Remberance of God, hidden and apparent.

8. Wa qultu ayaa khayra l anaami Muhammadin ** Ayaa Shaykh-a Barhaami ayaa Shaykh-a Ahmadi

8. So I said Oh! Best of all the creations, Muhammad, ** Oh! Master Barham (Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse); Oh! Master Tijani, Ahmad.

9. Wa-wallahi fii qalbii ladaikum tamuu'u ** 'alaa kulli ahwaalii ilaykum rajuu'u

9. I swear by ALLAH that, my heart is, to you, ambitious ** in every situation, unto you, am fastidious.

10. Wa kullu muhibbi aw habeebi li-ajliskum ** kadhaa kullu akhidhi bi-aadhaa tareeqikum

10. And so is every disciple or beloved of your sittings ** just as every accepter of this your path's intrinsics.

11. Bi-sirri KUN wa-fiqnii analu l fawaatihu ** kadhaa faydu fii nayli l 'uluumi nawaafi'u

11. By the mystery: "BE!", make me lucky to get liberations ** as well as abundance in attaining knowledge's bastion.

12. Fa-kam saa'ilnii naalat bi-sirri damaanati ** fa-kam wafaqat taysiiri wa faaqatu amaanati

12. How many have asked me gains, by your guarantee's virtue ** countless numbers have been lucky to get ease, safety unworthy..

13. Wa-laysa khata'u fii siwaakum khutaamu'i ** wa-kullu khata'i min siwaakum manii'u

13. There's no mistake from others, but that you are well averse ** but every blunder asides from you, are indeed diverse.

14. 'Alaa-llahi fii nayli l muraadi jadiiru ** 'alaa-llahi fawqa kulla shay'hin qadiiru

14. On GOD is the attainment of objectives suitable ** for GOD is powerful over and above all, able.

15. Salaatun 'alaa khayra l anaami Muhammadi ** wa aali wa as'haabi wa ansaari Ahmadi

15. Invocations on the best of creations Muhammad ** and upon his kith and kin and the helpers of Ahmad.

16. 'Alaa saahibi l wirdi madeenati Faasi ** 'alaa saahibi l faydi musamaa Inyaasi

16. On the owner of the litany, in the city of Fez (Morocco) ** on the owner of the Flood, otherwise known as Inyass (Niasse).

17. 'Alaa sirri dhii-l-wirdi 'aliyyi timaasi ** 'alaa khaadimi l faydi 'Aliyyi bin Siisi (Cisse).

17. On the mystery of the litany's owner, Ali Tamasini ** on the servant of the Flood-owner, 'Aliyyi ibn Cisse.

18. 'Aliyyi Ahrazimi wa abdi l malaawii ** 'abaydu Ilaahi sirri qalbi wa-tahwii

18. 'Aliyyi Harazimi and 'Abda-Laawi ** worshippers of God, in the secret of the heart, a-will.

19. 'Aliyyi Sukayriji 'Aliyyi Kunuuzii ** 'Aliyyi Nazeefii li-ahli Maraakishi

19. 'Aliyyi Sukayrij, Aliyy Kansuusi ** 'Aliyyi Nazeefii, of the people of Morocco.

20. Fa-naazimu abyaati la-Hamzata qaa'ilaan ** mashaaribaan min bah'ri l 'uluumi nawaafi'a

20. The composer of these lines is Hamzah, who says, therefore.. ** that a drink from the seas of your knowledge is all he asks for.

21. Khatamtu nizaamii bi-salaati wa sallim ** 'alaa khayri khalqi-llahi nashraan wa naazimaan

21. I end my compositions with invocations of peace ** on the best of God's creatures, composing and spreading peace.
